Plan's Early Survival and Development of Children (ESDeC) Programme intervention seek to address the high levels of illnesses and death among children under five years of age. It focuses on strengthening health system across the continuum of care for better service delivery; improving mother, newborn and child health (MNCH) behaviors and practice through community mobilisation; improving sanitation and hygiene practices and expanding access to sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) facilities. In its recent Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health project, Plan worked with local partners and government departments across 228 communities in eight districts within the regional states of Amhara, Oromia, and Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region with a goal to reduce maternal, newborn and child mortality amongst women and children.
