http://www.eca.europa.eu European Court of Auditor's report on EU aid after Abruzzi earthquake in 2009 This Audit report examined events following the recent 2009 earthquake that hit the Italian Abruzzi region. This natural disaster caused a direct damage estimated at more than € 10 billion and left 67,500 people homeless after the quake. The European Union contributed € 0.5 billion to the Italian emergency operations from its European Union Solidarity Fund. The EU Auditors report leads the European Commission to rethink "temporary accommodation" rules after natural disasters.
