Vector Media, a New York-based advertising company, is growing quickly — and that has created some content management conundrums. More about Cloud Content Management with Box: http://www.box.com "We're an advertising company that doesn't like following the rulebook," says Dan Dorato, CTO of Vector Media. The firm has about 120 employees around the country, and that number keeps increasing. This rapid growth was creating some file-sharing problems. "Growing a company at the rapid pace we were, and dealing with employees in different states, was very difficult," says Dorato. People were emailing files, and version control was out of control. Information was getting out of sync, and people within the company were starting to feel disconnected. Something needed to change. "It was at the point where if we wanted to get our company where we needed to be, it would not be possible with legacy infrastructure," Dorato admitted. So Vector Media's CTO started looking for a better document management system. First, he looked at solutions like Dropbox and OneDrive. While useful in some respects, these content management solutions were designed for the consumer first and, as Dorato puts it, "they bolted on security features later." Vector Media needed a cloud content management platform that would allow scattered employees to access, share and collaborate on files from anywhere without any security risk whatsoever. Box was "designed as an enterprise content management solution first," Dorato explains, "with business and security in mind" — something the other vendors didn't seem to take as seriously. At the same time, Office 365, Vector Media's legacy document software, remained important. So, the company needed a cloud content management solution that would integrate seamlessly. Box was that solution — not just on the desktop, but for web and mobile use. "The work that Box does every day really transforms businesses," says Dorato. "To have our own data center would have cost us in excess of $300,000, not counting $100,000 of residual cost. By moving to Box, those costs were drastically cut. And it brings our entire organization together. Box has allowed me to scale my company to levels that were previously unattainable." About Box Box is the Cloud Content Management company that empowers enterprises to revolutionize how they work by securely connecting their people, information and applications.
