uktangan International Foundation (MIF) - Our Story MIF is a voluntary, Non-profit Organization working towards education, rehabilitation, and empowerment of women and children. The organization was the brainchild of Mrs. Mayah Manghnani who founded the organization after the Kargil war when a group of friends -- Ashok & Kokilla Modi, Ashok Mehta, Suresh Mehta, Mannubhai and founder Mayah Manghnani -- brainstormed together and wanted to do their little bit for the widows and the mentally & physically handicapped jawans. A quick recce with the help of the Army was undertaken to Drass and Kargil and there the seed of MUKTANGAN INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION was sown. MIF has always been working for the welfare of the widows in the Garhwal Hills and has personally visited and aided the widows engaged in the craft of shawl making & provided them financial and technical support with the help of CAPART, then headed by Shri Rangan Dutta in 1997-98. The physically challenged jawans were assisted by the Army and were allocated Petrol Pumps and Gas agencies by MIF. The organization was constantly in touch with their families and the education programmes that were set up. The children were funded for computer education and extra-curricular activities in the Army School of Garhwal. MIF has always worked towards the welfare of the jawans keeping in mind the sacrifices made by them to keep our home front safe. Many physically challenged jawans were sent to ALC, Pune are now leading fairly normal lives. MIF has also participated and contributed in the Orissa cyclone, the Gujarat earthquake, the Mumbai flood, and food and basic medicines have been provided to far flung places like Bhiwandi Bapgaon. These achievements have been possible with the help of the 107 AD Regiment in Kalina. In the time of terror in 2008, the message of peace and courage was spread by distributing The Bhagwad Gita to the police stations and the people involved in this operation.
