Extreme Shock Testing Of The J5 Tactical Flashlight

The guys at J5 Tactical were kind enough to send me one of their flashlights for an extreme stress test. I left it out in the rain, dunked it under water, dropped it from 20 feet in the air, mounted it to a tactical shotgun and ran over it with my truck. Read the full article here: http://www.thedoityourselfworld.com/blog/?p=1667 I wanted to see what this light can really do. The website says it is "impact resistant" and I wanted to know what the means in real world terms. I also wanted to know if this flashlight labeled as a tactical flashlight can really handle tactical situations. I have been using the J5 tactical flashlight for a while now on my tactical Mossberg 500 pump gauge shotgun with pistol grip and 18 inch slug barrel. I often have to run out in the night to chase off predators which are attacking my chickens. I have use many different lights for this but the J5 Tactical does the job. One cheap light I used failed due to the spring in the battery compartment getting weak under shock. The J5 is holding up well though after many rounds fired from my 12 gauge. I left the flashlight out in the rain for a full 7.5 hours to see how well it would hold up under weather. You will often find yourself out in the night walking in the rain and need to know you have a flashlight that you can count on to get you to your destination. I took the flashlight off the shotgun for another test that I at first said I was not going to do. I dunked the J5 Tactical flashlight into the lake and left it there for a while as I talked to the camera. After pulling it out, it still worked fine. I tossed it in again and even turned it on under water, which looked pretty cool. Back on the tactical shotgun I took the J5 Tactical flashlight out for some night firing on video. This light has been serving me quite well on the shotgun as I already said but I wanted to show you. Another real world situation you may find yourself in is sitting up in a deer blind about 15 or 20 feet up in the air. After sun down you need to get home in the dark of night. You need a flashlight that you can trust to get you home. It is very possible that you can drop your flashlight from the tree stand while getting down. I want a light that will still work and not leave me stranded out in the woods in the cold winter night. The J5 Tactical flashlight took the beating and is still working fine. For the last and most critical test I decided to drive over the J5 Tactical flashlight with my 4wd Chevy 3/4 ton truck. I set it on the hard packed clay and gravel path and slowly drove over it. This can happen if you are off roading in the night and drop your flashlight out the window while watching for obstacles under or beside the truck. At first I was quite worried and thought I had squashed the light. It looked bad and was pressed deeply into the clay. But when I pulled it out, the light was perfectly intact and to my amazement it was not even scratched! The J5 Tactical is one flashlight that will be a permanent part of my backpack and bug out bag. I will have one for the shotgun, one for my backpack, one for daily carry and one for my bug out bag. This is a flashlight I trust with my life.
